Dean's Update to Donors 2014-15

With your support, we will create a better tomorrow

About fifteen years ago, a group of visionaries came together to start the Indian School of Business. Many doubters said it was too ambitious an idea. Proving them wrong, ISB is today a thriving global institution, turning out successful entrepreneurs and executives while also impacting industry and government policy through path breaking research and training programmes.

This would not have been possible without the steadfast support of our benefactors whose belief in the institution and the teams that run it. We are extremely thankful to them for making ISB such a big success in so short a time. Particularly, this past year we have witnessed remarkable support from likeminded individuals and institutions that have reposed faith in the School to deliver on its vision and mission and supported it in further strengthening it to sustain the good work. Support from Dr. Thomas Schmidheiny to establish the Thomas Schmidheiny Centre for Family Enterprise, unrestricted contributions from Bajaj Auto and the Pirojsha Godrej Foundation, corporate partnerships with the National Stock Exchange to establish the NSE ISB Trading Lab, and a strong partnership with the Government of Telangana in the area of entrepreneurship, all in a span of just one year-will help us create significant impact in a number of unique ways on the society around us.

A detailed description of how support to ISB from individuals, corporations, government and foundations has been instrumental to create positive changes in several areas is attached with this communication.

It is this commitment to catalytic philanthropy by our supporters that has enabled ISB to rise above the ordinary and remain a testimony of their commitment to institution building. While we reflect upon the impact of the support we have received last year, we remain focused on all that still needs to be done. While the School has achieved in the short period of its existence, there is still a lot more to be done as an institution.

While ISB continues to provide a great world class learning experience to its students in both Hyderabad and Mohali, it is adding new competencies and initiatives at both the campuses. While the four institutes, working out of Mohali, are shaping up to fulfill their mandates by launching new programmes and impact initiatives, there is a resurgence in the Entrepreneurship space with a whole new ecosystem coming up at ISB. For instance while the Big Leap Club has already engaged with 100 SMEs and is further expanding its impact, the Technology Entrepreneurship Program (TEP) is well on course to nurturing scores of potential young entrepreneurs in the country within the next few years. Likewise, the research being done by the world class faculty at ISB continues to make waves improving the Schools global research rankings. ISB is committed to faculty development across b-schools and colleges in India. We are planning Teacher training programmes which has an ambitious goal of training 1000 faculty of other Schools in the country over the next five years.

However all this is not possible without the active support of our benefactors. We urge you to explore partnership opportunities with the School to do things today that will define the future for the world around us.

Please feel free to reach out to us or one of the team members for discussions on further possibilities on this.
